Eventhough I'm left with no maid to help out with the washing and cleaning up, I can't help but happily say yes to my dear friend who had in advance informed me that she will be ordering a cake from me. It was for her husband and nephew's birthday. I first jumped at the idea of a 3D car cake. A cake that needs carving and creativity in getting the right shape and curve...ha..:) Furthermore, the car has to be decorated in fondant, which is more complex and difficult compared to just piping with buttercream. Oh well, never try never know. I was then eager to try out this 3D McQueen design after much inspired by so many pictures at flickers.. Thanks to the Internet and all the successors who has done it before.
I think he has got a sweet smile there, don't you think so? :P Oops..look at those crushed cones, he's not a careful driver there..hehe.. And don't worry, those sand were made from crushed digestive biscuits. Rise crispies and chocolate candies stone-like for decoration purposes.
Here goes the driver, Mr. Wesley one of the birthday boy.. not sure how old he is though..:)
Here's little Keith at the passenger seat. He is turning 4.
Front logo with their names embossed and the chick spotlights..
Tadaaa....Thirteen accompanying cupcakes to go with McQueen. I supplied a number '4' candle for Keith but no age mentioned for Wesley as requested. According to Eve, the main star for the party was Keith.:)
Another little blue racing car leading the race :)
Like Evelyn said, everyone was impressed and surprised with the 2 in 1 birthday cake. Viewing from the right hand side, it's Wesley's birthday cake.
Turn it around and voila..!.. it's Keith's birthday cake..... :)
Evelyn told me that her nephews and nieces' 1st reaction when they saw the cake was they shouted "McQueen!" then her nephew took out his McQueen CD and started making comparisons...haha...glad he could recognised it in the 1st place...:)
The back view of the cake.
My Hubby commented that the sport rims should be bigger. I agreed. That's because I didn't expect that the car cake would be this big as I have made the sport rims days in advance to let it dry hard, before I can imagine how the actual cake would turn out. Will take note on that the next time. By the way, the flavour of the cake and cupcakes was brown sugar vanilla butter cake. The cake weighed almost 2kg. Size 10"x5".
Thanks Eve for the order. I'm so glad we made it *wink* :)
All packed and ready to go...vrrooommm..........
